Cheek to Cheek

Note after note,

Cheek to cheek,

They danced to the melody.

Sweet tea they sipped,

While swaying, hip to hip.

Smiles and grins,

Twinkling eyes,

The music laughs and the music cries.

Beautiful ballroom,

Bride and groom, bride and groom,

Dancing to the entrancing tune.

Tonight is their wedding night.

Tonight is peaceful.  Tomorrow they’ll fight.

Their love consumes them and they consume each other.

She will argue with him and he with her mother.

They will be hurt.  Then, they’ll embrace.

When children appear, it will quicken the pace.

They will crawl and they will talk,

They will wobble and they will walk.

They will start school in the fall.

They will use crayons to color the wall.

Soon the kids will be bruising their knees.

Soon, they will learn about the birds and the bees.

The children will chase each other and drive their parents mad.

The children will love one another and make their parents glad.

Someday, these children will have little ones of their own.

Someday, these little ones will mature and be full grown.

And note after note,

Cheek to sweet cheek,

They will dance to a new melody.

Sweet tea they will sip,

As they sway hip to hip,

Smiles and grins and twinkling eyes,

The music laughs and the music cries.

…random musings…

The end is near for me.

I have much to do and much to see,

but the end is near for me.

Time is short,

but I must write my report.

It is due in due time, soon, my report.

No rock will be left unturned.

No fire will be unburned.

No word unspoken.

No bone unbroken.

From dust we have grown.

In wind, we will be blown.

The end is near for me.

But my tears will water a tree.

And from that tree, a fruit there will be.

The fruit will be eaten with honey.

People will smile and not talk of money.

People will embrace,

Face to face, face to face.

Love will warm their hearts.
